Anonymous v. Construction Site
Case Synopsis
Our client was seriously injured while working on the exterior of a building renovation project when a preventable construction site accident caused him to fall from an elevated work platform. As he performed refurbishment work from an elevated plank, an employee operating a tractor negligently became entangled with the platform’s power cord, causing the plank to become unstable and throwing our client to the ground.
The fall caused severe spinal injuries that ultimately required back surgery and extensive medical treatment.
Liability was fiercely contested throughout the litigation. The defense argued that our client bore responsibility for his own injuries because he was not wearing the required safety harness while working at height. To overcome this defense, our attorneys conducted extensive discovery, including the deposition of the employee operating the tractor, while carefully preparing our client for his own deposition to ensure his testimony clearly explained how the defendant’s negligence caused the incident.
Result: By thoroughly developing the evidence and demonstrating the true cause of the accident, we successfully overcame the liability disputes and secured a $1,000,000 settlement for our client.
