# Esparza v. Doyle

Our client suffered significant spinal injuries after a Canadian driver carelessly T-boned his truck with such force that the vehicle overturned.

Although liability was relatively clear, obtaining a fair recovery still required formal litigation, including depositions from both the defendant and our client before meaningful settlement negotiations could take place.

The case also presented an uncommon cross-border insurance issue because the at-fault driver was insured under a Canadian automobile policy. As a result, the settlement had to be negotiated and resolved under the Canadian policy limits and paid in Canadian dollars.
